These positions are to service local business in the greater Metro Detroit area.  Competitive wage for the properly qualified candidates, wages based on experience and knowledge of the industry.  Qualified candidates must possess the following attributes:

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Move Supervisor (driver/crew lead), the help/packer assists with moving, packing, wrapping, inventory, and transport of household goods for residential customers. The helper/packer assists with loadings and unloading vehicles, handles the customers' possessions with care to avoid dents, scratches, or other damage. Our movers represent Stevens in a professional and courteous manner, work collaboratively with any assigned team members, and deliver a positive and successful relocation for our customers. Our people strive for a positive customer experience.

Some positions may be part-time, others full-time positions. Either will have variable hours and could include long hours and/or weekend shifts. You must have the ability to lift and carry more than 50 pounds and walk or stand for extended periods of time. You need to follow directions, yet work independently, taking responsibility to get the job done. Team work is important, as is a personal desire to fulfill the needs of customers. Reliability and flexibility with work schedules contributes to a higher number of work hours or from part time to full time. The most valuable contributors, who consistently perform well, have increased opportunity to move from part-time into a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to follow directions as given by supervisor or advanced level HHG movers.
  • Knowledgeable about residence protection, able to use protection materials properly in order to prevent damage to the job site. This includes, but is not limited to doors, floors, steps, and walls.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use basic tools such as drills, screwdrivers, and rubber hammers.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use moving equipment such as 2-wheeled and 4 wheeled dollies, walk boards, appliance carts, etc.
  • Performs basic assembly and disassembly of furniture, include such items as beds, bookshelves, and tables.
  • Performs packing in a manner that is consistent and compliant with the Stevens Packing Guidelines and requirements.
  • This duty will also include wrapping (fine finish, upholstery, and shrink) of articles.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested, including the ability to transfer skills and work in a similar position in the role of Commercial Mover, Warehouse Services, as work dictates.

Required Education, Knowledge & Skills:

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the day to day management of local operations for COA location. Driver recruiting, training, planning and dispatch of crews. Coordinating local operations functions for COA including planning and set up of third party services. This position requires exceptional customer service skills, have effective listening and communication skills both by phone and in person, enjoy building strong relationships with customers, drivers and crew members and demonstrate uncompromising work ethic and integrity. Strong computer skills, proficient in MS Office and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations/Dispatch

  • Recruit local contractors and manage a multiple contractor operation
  • Must have knowledge of D.O.T. rules and regulations
  • Ability to forecast labor and equipment needs to ensure customer needs are met
  • Assign van personnel, labor, equipment, materials and third party services to the appropriate jobs
  • Dispatch local labor / crews
  • Review job assignment with crew prior to morning dispatch.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to utilize all Microsoft based programs
  • Answer phones and assist drivers with questions & concerns
  • Track and communicate all change orders with the driver/ crew and sales
  • Monitor and report claims of local crew
  • Train and teach local crew and warehouse workers on systems /procedures
  • Keep a positive and open dialog with local crew
  • Ensure all production crew records are keep up to date
  • Update local drivers and contractor trips (cubes/weights/ETA)
  • Reconcile overnight trips
  • Create tracking programs and tactics for improving monthly variables
  • Continue to work on improving driver’s variables to increase profit margin
  • Keep abreast of COA (Company Owned Agency) short haul bookings
  • Perform spot checks on equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, pre-trip inspections
  • Provide instruction and training for warehouse crew/ local crew
  • Register shipments in the Stevens System and others
  • Learn and improve paperwork stream of COA’s
  • Order and maintain materials necessary to run day to day operations of COA
  • Keep up with vouchers to make sure all products and services are charged to the appropriate parties
  • Able to work flexible schedule
  • Warehouse operations
  • Train and teach warehouse workers on systems /procedures
  • Supervise and provide instruction for warehouse crew
  • Set-up files for all Distribution Projects with warehouse staff
  • Verify accuracy of information on warehousing/receiving reports to customer purchase orders.
  • Monitor and track warehouse and driver claims
  • Capture all sources of revenue consistent with Project Scope of Service through accurately invoicing of charges.
